Paul

Priscilla,

Sin grips us.

Don't think you're impervious.

Our body, soul, spirit are all affected by our sin.

We need to be vigilant and keep ourselves in check.

Hence the admonition, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."

Like a lot of us, I, too, became sluggish and lazy during the last 6 months or so since the pandemic.

Working at home has its perks but it also has a lot of pitfalls.

Staying home in my basketball shorts and T-shirts everyday (same shorts and T-shirts for many days) made my whole self feel very sluggish.

My mind felt clouded and I fell into watching things for hours at a time.

I mean, my mind became clouded because I spent so much time watching mindless videos, shows, movies... I would peruse the social media and watch things. Mindlessly.

Finally, last weekend, I sat in front of my laptop to write.

You know I write as a hobby.

I write whatever is on my mind.

But I couldn't write anything.

There was nothing.

Absolutely nothing came to my mind.

"A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man."

How true it is.

Poverty and scarcity of your mind is even more frightening, isn't it?

Priscilla,

All other sin is outside of our body.

Your actions make your body the very instrument of sin.

You are a believer, are you not?

When you accepted Jesus, the Holy Spirit entered your body to reside in you.

Your body is the very temple of God.

Other sins defile the outer courts of the temple.

But your actions defile the very holy of holies.

Do you understand?

Don't be naive and think that this physical act of lying with him will not affect you.

My idleness of watching seemingly innocuous things robbed me of clarity.

Our actions have lingering consequences, sometimes even permanent consequences.

Don't think that your body, soul, and spirit will walk away from this unscathed.

But I'm not telling you this to scare you.

I'm telling you this so that you would understand the gravity of your actions and stop.

I'm telling you this because I can also tell you about the grace and mercy of our God.

He only asks you to stop and come back to his love.

Be satisfied in His love.

Pray, repent, read the Word.

I can imagine how harsh I must sound to you.

But Priscilla,

Please stop this.

I'm telling you as a friend.

Paul.
